About these Townhomes

This specialty website celebrates the unique style of housing that was built in Cambridge, MA in the 1970s through the early 1980s by the architects Doug Bell and Gerald Fandetti. The Bell and Fandetti Townhouses as they are known, have somewhat of a cult following.
Defining Features

The defining features of these townhouses are a modern open loft style with multiple levels that separate space and 2-3 story cathedral ceiling living rooms.

Wonderful outdoor space by city standards, from small to large private enclosed backyards, gardens, decks and patios.

Many townhouses have 1st floor attached garages while all enjoy off street parking.

Many have wood burning stoves with metal pipe chimneys that run through the open cathedral.

Dramatic 3 story walls of glass, large windows, sliders and skylights.
Communities

One of the desirable aspects of these townhouses are the single family ownership. Even the few that are deeded as condos have a single family feel. There are about 20 B&F townhouse communities throughout Cambridge totaling approximately 170 units.
